As far back as I can remember, I have had a passion for design and working with my hands. My interest in working with wood started when I was a young boy banging nails into a small work bench my Grandpa built for me. I wasn't building back then, but the seed was planted.
In high school, wood shop and drafting were always my favorite classes. I already knew I didn't want a career that confined me to an office, but I was not sure what path to take. I knew that I loved being outside and working with my hands - hoping to use that interest to somehow tap into my creative side. I eventually gravitated toward landscape design and earned a landscape architecture degree from the
University of Illinois in 2004. I focused on this career path for the next ten years. I owned a successful design/build business for five of those years, but something was missing.
In 2013, I sold my business and quickly discovered my true creative spirit lies in working with wood. I love the freedom it allows and the unending possibilities it
presents for form and texture. Now, I am using the design/build skills I have been honing for over a decade to turn wood into functional art.
