Do you ever ponder what happens to your our your neighbors’ walnut tree that was removed last year? Well, many of us do, and unfortunately these elegant trees are never re-born as they should be in the form of handcrafted woodwork. These trees are typically split, chopped, scrapped for mulch, firewood or left to rot. Our goal at Wood Walkers Urban Timber and Woodwork is to save these timbers and repurpose them into quality handmade furniture and wood crafts. Our passion for woodworking was planted decades ago, just as these trees were that we strive to repurpose. Steeped in the foggy hills of West Virginia a father's hobby that started over 75 years ago has been passed down through four generations and now resides in the Bluegrass of Kentucky. What started, and still is an artistic outlet for a family to create hand-crafted woodwork has become ingrained into our family's livelihood. From the tree that you grazed by on the way to the school bus as a child, to the table that we break bread at, the treys we serve our guests on and the art that add comfort to our home, this is our invitation to you: walk the urban woods with us.
